Celebrate National Library Week, April 12-18, 2009

McDermott Library has a lineupof activities to celebrate National Library Week
The festivities will include:

• An Exhibit. The most checked out items in the history of the Library will be showcased in the second floor lobby exhibit case.• A Contest. Students and Faculty members should check out a book to enter the "National Library Week" contest.
• A PRIZE. . . . possibly an iPod Nano or a gift certificate at Barnes & Noble. The first 50 entries win an earth-friendly bag.
• A Tour. Make an appointment with a librarian for a tour of our facilities (loreen.phillips@utdallas.edu).
• Incentives. Instead of using the Book Drop, bring your overdue book to the library Circulation Desk and see Deborah Gilbert-Stadigh about your National Library Week incentive.
• Praise for the Library Staff. April 15, 2009 – "National Library Workers Day" – Library staff can check out a book and receive an earth-friendly bag.

New Wiley Journal Content Temporarily On Hold

The library has recently received news from online journal publisher Wiley that content slated for publication on or after May 1st, 2009 will not be available until UT System renewals are processed. Some titles are published online in advance of print (e.g., Geophysical Journal International), so we ask our users for patience while we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We hope to establish access to these dates by the end of the month and will post an update as soon as it happens.

Wiley Interscience Scheduled Downtime, Apr. 14

Wiley Interscience e-journals will be down on Tuesday, 4/14 from approximately 3 am – 4 am CST. We appreciate your patience while maintenance is performed during this downtime.

· Publishing Opportunities Database (EBSCO) -- provides a listing of publishing sources for faculty and students interested in presenting and publishing their research papers. The sources include Journal Call for Papers, Conference Call for Papers, and Special Issues Call for Papers.

Scheduled Downtime for ProQuest Resources

All ProQuest resources will be unavailable from 9 pm CST on Saturday, 4/18/09 through 5 am CST Sunday, 4/19/09.

This includes products such as RefWorks, all three online historical newspapers (New York Times, Wall St. Journal and Washington Post), Dissertations & Theses Fulltext, Periodicals Archive Online, American Periodicals Series, and all other resources on the ProQuest platform.
