Scheduled Downtime: Informaworld Publications

Please be advised that there will be a period of scheduled maintenance on the Informaworld website on Saturday 3rd November. Between 12:30 and 14:30 GMT (7:30am and 9:30am CDT) the site will be unavailable. Informaworld is the online home of publications from Taylor & Francis, Routledge, Psychology Press and Informa Healthcare. Informaworld representatives apologize in advance for any inconvenience the service disruption may cause.

Laptops in the library

Please note the following changes to the Laptops available for check out in Multimedia Services.

Currently, half of the laptops #1-16 still have MS Office 2003. While the second half #17-32 have been upgraded to MS Office 2007.

Please be aware that if you are looking for either versions of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) that BOTH 2003 and 2007 are now available on the laptops in Multimedia Services for check out.

Service Restored : Library Electronic Resources Are Working

Full service has been restored to the library's electronic resources. In particular, we were experiencing difficulties with the EBSCO databases earlier. Services are now back to normal with little or no delays in downloading articles. If you are experiencing any more difficulties, please contact a librarian or consult our troubleshooting page.

Service Disruption: Library Electronic Resources Down or Slow

Problems on the World Wide Web are interfering with the library's ability to reach our electronic resources. Patrons may experience long delays when attempting to access databases or online articles, or they may be timed out altogether. If you experience any difficulties, please try the resource again later. Thank you for your patience.

Service Unavailable

Please be aware that *all* web servers at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission will be down for scheduled maintenance on Saturday, October 27 between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

Texas Heritage Online (texasheritageonline.org) will be unavailable, as will www.thdi.org

The www.tsl.state.tx.us domain and the TexShare Database portal for public libraries hosted there will also be unavailable. This outage also includes The Library of Texas (www.libraryoftexas.org) and all TRAIL services.
The www.texshare.edu domain and all TexShare Database menu pages hosted there -- including all custom gateway menu pages -- will be unavailable.

Library Event - Lecture

McDermott Library Special Collections presents a free public lecture featuring Erasmo Pinero, Jr. of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth.

Monday, October 15, 2007 – 4-5 p.m.
McDermott Library Auditorium (MC 2.410)

“Challenges and Opportunities in Aerospace” should be of interest to upcoming generations of scientists and engineers. Pinero, who fled from Cuba in the early 1970s, became an aeronautical engineer and currently works on the F-35 engine Test and Development Integration with the Joint Strike Fighter Propulsion Integration Group at Lockheed Martin.

Downtime for ebrary

Ebrary is a collection of over 20,000 electronic books which covers all academic subject areas with strengths in business & economics, computers & technology, science, medicine, education, history, and social science.

ebrary is scheduling monthly system maintenance on the first Tuesday of each month, from 8pm-10pm PST (10pm-12am CST). During this period, the ebrary service may be unavailable.

They are scheduling this on a standing monthly basis to provide earlier notification to end-users and streamline the maintenance process.
