Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Our Banned Books Display on the 2nd floor gives you a glimpse at some of the books on the list. Stop by and see what's inside. You may be surprised.

Celebrate Banned Books Week- Sept. 21-27, 2014


It's Banned Books Week! Celebrate your freedom to read by checking out a challenged book. Everyday this week, we're posting popular books that are on the banned books list. First up, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. It made the list for religious viewpoint, violence and occult/satanism.

Welcome Week at McDermott Library

Next week is a big one in McDermott Library. Starting this Sunday, August 31 (just in time for your Labor Day break), we're giving away popcorn when you check out a movie from the Multimedia Desk. And on Thursday, come dressed to impress as your favorite book character. BookCon 2014 starts at 6pm in the lobby. Isn't Welcome Week awesome
